Lavspenning/Kabler/Abonnentkabel - A♦♦-0,9 EEBI-45P B0,8

1 SCOPE

1.1 Purpose

The purpose of the technical specification is to provide guidance for the production, test procedures and delivery of products according to stated requirements. The technical specification contains technical and functional requirements to be fulfilled.

The cables shall provide capability to transfer signals on twisted pairs. The cables shall be free of halogens and self-extinguishing. The cables shall withstand relevant loads that may be present in normal operation of facilities for railways.

E (1. letter) = massive insulation of PE / PP
E (2. letter) = sheath of PE / PP
B (3. letter) = armouring (2 steel tapes)
I (4. letter) = outer sheath of halogen-free polymer (self-extinguishing)

1.2 History

Previous editions of the technical specification did not require self-extinguishing properties (technical designation: EEBE).

2 REQUIREMENTS

2.1 Electrical requirements

a) Electrical properties at 20 °C:

1 Capacitance at 1 kHz, (cable with 5 pairs): 45 ± 10 nF/km
2 Capacitance at 1 kHz, (cable with more than 5 pairs): 45 ± 5 nF/km
3 DC resistance in loop, mean value: 56,1 ohm/km
4 DC resistance in loop, maximum: 58 ohm/km
5 Insulation resistance: 5000 Mohm x km
6 Insulation test: DC 1,5 kV in 3 seconds
7 Insertion loss at 800 Hz: 0,7 dB/km

2.2 Cable types and mechanical requirements

a) The following mechanical requirements apply:

Number of pairs Designation F.number Min. bending diameter
(mm)
Max. longitudinal load
(N)
Weight (approx.)
(kg/km)

b) The conductors in the 10 pair group shall have a colour coding permeating the insulation as follow:

  1. The colour code for the last five pairs is not relevant for cables with only 5 pairs.
Pair number A lead B lead
1 Blue Red
2 White Red
3 Yellow Red
4 Grey Red
5 Orange Red
6 Blue Black
7 White Black
8 Yellow Black
9 Grey Black
10 Orange Black

c) The 10 pairs groups are identified by a thin tape sorrounding the 10 pairs with a colour code as follow:

10 pairs group Colour code
1 (Blue)
2 White
3 Yellow

d) A rip thread shall be included under the inner sheath to assist easy removal of the inner sheath.

e) The two steel tapes shall be revolved with an overlap.

f) A rip thread may be included under the outer sheath to assist easy removal of the outer sheath.

g) The compound of the outer sheath shall be selected to minimize problems with rodents and UV radiation.

2.4 Tools

a) It shall be possible to terminate the cables without the use of special tools.

2.5 Fire properties

a) The cables shall fulfil the requirements in IEC 60332-1 (related to fire).

2.6 Markings

a) The outer sheath of the cable shall have easy readable and durable markings with the following information:

  1. manufacturer's name
  2. designation
  3. F.number
  4. accumulative length at every meter of the actual production length (note)
  5. preferably also a unique production identity
  6. year of production

(Note) The first and the last length figures shall be readable at/on the production package (drum or other package).

b) € marking is not relevant.

2.7 Quality certificate

a) A quality certificate containing test results or control check points shall accompanying the cable and the invoice. The quality certificate shall indicate the purchase number.

2.8 Documentation, language

a) Product sheets shall be available in Norwegian.

3 ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS

a) All cables shall be fitted with protective caps at both ends to avoid intrusion of moisture and contamination.

b) Production, use and disposal of the products shall be possible obeying national regulations (Forurensningsloven).
